10/11/2017 (Turkey) - According to local media sources on Wednesday, 11 October, four people have been killed and a further two injured in an explosion at an oil refinery near the town of Aliaga in Izmir Province. Reports indicate that the incident occurred following maintenance work on a storage tank. Imagery suggests an ongoing fire at the refinery. Emergency operations are currently ongoing in the area.

Clients in Aliaga are advised to remain well clear of the oil processing facilities and closely monitor local sources for further updates. Those in the vicinity of the oil facility should remain indoors as toxic fumes are likely to result from the fire at the plant.
