Suspected IED Blast Reported in Aden

10/11/2017 (Yemen) - According to reports from local outlets on Wednesday, 11 Ocotber, an improvised explosive device (IED) is believed to have detonated in Aden's Khormakser district. The detonation is understood to have been at or near the Jebel Hadid military base approximately 2.5km (1.5 miles) south of Aden International Airport (ADE). It is currently unclear whether any casualties resulted from the incident.

Travel in Aden should only be conducted under comprehensive security risk management procedures, in conjunction with a reputable security provider. Travellers are advised to minimise the time spent in the vicinity of military and security installations in Aden, as these have been frequent targets for terrorist attacks in the past. Prior to deployment, clients are advised to undertake a localised threat assessment to identify any potential threats to operations and staff safety.
