Protests Expected following Further Medical Education Disputes

10/11/2017 (Sri Lanka) - According to local media sources on Wednesday, 11 October, activists from the Inter University Students' Federation (IUSF) are expected to protest against the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM)in the coming days in central Colombo. Previous protests of this nature have led to violent clashes with police.
Those in Colombo are advised to avoid all rallies and demonstrations in order to minimise the risk of exposure to incidental violence and police crowd control operations. Remain vigilant and heed any directives issued by authorities. Clients are advised to anticipate overland travel disruption in the vicinity of protests. Monitor local media sources for further updates.
