10/11/2017 (Iraq) - Emerging social media sources report on Wednesday, 11 October, that opposition protesters are planning to stage a protest in Tahrir Square, Baghdad. The protests are to demonstrate against the deteriorating security situation in the city highlight perceived issues with governance.

Those in Baghdad are advised to avoid the Tahrir Square are in the immediate term due to the risk of exposure to potential crowd disturbances, incidental violence and possible militant attacks. Travellers should monitor local media reports for further updates on the demonstration. Travellers should be aware that Iraq remains a high-risk operational environment and are advised to ensure that all movements are subject to strict journey management protocols following a localised risk assessment.
