09/21/2017 (Pakistan) - Local media reports indicate that two customs officials were injured on Thursday, 21 September, in a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) blast on the Pakistan-Afghanistan Highway in the Khyber Agency. The two men were reportedly returning to Peshawar from the Torkham border crossing when their vehicle was hit by the blast, believed to have been remotely detonated. Security forces have reportedly launched a search operation in the area to find those responsible for the bombing.

Those with operationally-critical travel requirements within the Khyber Agency and other parts of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas are advised to subject all movements to strict security risk management protocols following a comprehensive localised threat assessment. Travel to zones where there are ongoing military operations should be avoided, and close contact maintained with Pakistani administrative and military authorities. Travellers should minimise time spent in the vicinity of police and military buildings, checkpoints and patrols, as these are prime targets for insurgent attacks.
