09/21/2017 (Sweden) - Local media reports indicate that security has been increased in Stockholm on Thursday, 21 September, after a nonspecific terror threat against the city was spread on social media. Police reportedly confirmed that they are investigating the threat but denied that they had increased their terrorism threat level. Some local media sources suggest that the threat is directed at central Stockholm although no specific target is believed to have been identified.

Those in Stockholm should be aware of the potential for increased security deployments in the immediate term and are advised to exercise a heightened level of vigilance, immediately reporting any suspicious items or activity to security forces. Travellers should monitor local media sources for further updates on the threat and to remain apprised of any associated security operations in their particular area.
