09/20/2017 (Spain) - According to local media sources, the Plataforma Pro Soterramiento political group has called for protests against ongoing railway infrastructure works in Murcia on Saturday, 30 September. The protesters intend to gather at the Santiago el Mayor level crossing at 1900hrs (1700 UTC) before marching through the city. The exact route of the march is not known at this time. The previous demonstration by the group on 15 September escalated into clashes with local security forces, resulting in at least 30 injuries and the arrest of 20 participants. As a result, it is highly likely that the protest will be monitored by a heavy security force.

Those in the area are advised to avoid the vicinity of protests and demonstrations in order to mitigate the risk of exposure to unruly crowd behaviour, opportunistic crime and police crowd control measures. Clients undertaking overland travel within the city are advised to review journey plans as a result of heightened security in the aforementioned areas.
