Travel Disruption reported following Bamako Market Blaze

09/20/2017 (Mali) - According to regional media sources, a large fire broke out at the Medina Coura market in central Bamako on Wednesday, 20 September. Several buildings have reportedly sustained significant damage in the blaze which broke out at around 0400hrs (UTC). Emergency services are currently working to contain the flames, which is causing overland travel disruption in central Bamako.

Those in Bamako are advised to avoid the area due to residual emergency response operations. Travelers should monitor local media sources for further information in regards to disrupted overland travel and heed any directives issued by local authorities.
