6.1 Magnitude Earthquake Registered South of Auckland Island

09/20/2017 (New Zealand) - According to the United States Geological Service (USGS) on Wednesday, 20 September, a 6.1 magnitude earthquake has struck 1256km (159 miles) south of Auckland Island. The quake reportedly occurred at a depth of 10km (6 miles) at 1343hrs (0143 UTC). No injuries or structural damages have been reported at this time. No Tsunami warning has currently been put in place.

Those in the region should be mindful of potential aftershocks in the medium term and are advised to monitor local media sources to remain apprised of any earthquake-related developments in their particular area of operations. Clients are further advised to remain alert to any emergency directives issued by authorities.
