London Transport Strikes to be held on 3 and 5 October

09/19/2017 (United Kingdom) - Media sources report that the Rail, Maritime, and Transport (RMT) union has announced on Tuesday, 19 September, that Southern rail, Merseyrail, Arriva Rail North and Greater Anglia are set to strike over disputes over the role of guards on trains. Strikes are scheduled to be held between 0001hrs (1101 UTC) and 2359hrs (2259 UTC) on Tuesday 3 October and Thursday 5 October. During the same dates, the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen (ASLEF) have announced that Tube drivers will stage a walkout in a dispute over working conditions.

Travellers should be aware that train companies have stated that they will publish an amended timetable and details for alternative travel arrangements in the coming week. Travellers are advised to revise journey plans accordingly in order to minimise disruption and impact on business continuity. Clients should also be aware of a surge in demand for alternative means of transport on the aforementioned dates. Personnel are advised to monitor local media sources for further information concerning the planned industrial action.
