Heavy Flooding Reported in Elblag

09/19/2017 (Poland) - Media sources report on Tuesday, 19 September, that heavy rain has caused flooding in the northern city of Elblag. Authorities have confirmed that firefighters are still working to strengthen river embankments after they flooded overnight. On Monday night firefighters attended 1,650 call-outs to deal with flooding incidents. Power cuts have also been reported in the region with up to 6,000 homes reportedly being affected.

Those in the aforementioned regions are advised to monitor local media sources for weather and transport related updates and follow any associated directives issued by local authorities. Travellers should take account of possible weather-related delays in their travel plans and drive appropriately for the weather conditions, including reducing speeds and avoiding flooded or blocked roads.
