Flooding Reported across 12 Provinces after Tropical Depression Doksuri

09/19/2017 (Thailand) - Media sources report on Tuesday, 19 September, that schools and businesses have been closed in Chaiyaphum's Muang district due to heavy flooding caused by tropical depression Doksuri. The Thai Meteorological department had issued a warning regarding the incoming cyclone, which has caused major flooding in the low-lying areas across 12 provinces. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has warned that Kalasin, Sakon Nakhon, Loei, Phrae, Uttaradit, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Chiang Rai, Lampang, Chaiyaphum, Satun and Phangnga provinces have been affected.

Those in Thailand are advised to monitor local media sources for further weather-related updates and heed any directives issued by local authorities. Travellers intending to undertake overland or air travel in the affected region in the immediate term are advised to contact their travel provider to ascertain the status of their journeys.
