Several Killed in Twin Suicide Bombings in Mashalari Village, Borno State

09/18/2017 (Nigeria) - Local media sources report that at least 15 people have been killed in a twin suicide bombing on Monday, 18 September, in Mashalari village, around 77km (48 miles) south of Maiduguri. Reports indicate that at least 43 people were injured in the incident. A spokesperson from the Civilian Joint Task Force confirmed that the bombers targeted civilians receiving aid.
Those in Nigeria are advised to avoid all non-essential travel to Borno state in light of the persistent threat of militant attacks. Those with operationally critical requirements in the region should conduct a thorough localised threat assessment and ensure that all travel is undertaken in coordination with local authorities and a trusted private security provider.
