09/18/2017 (Bangladesh) - Media sources report that two children and one woman have been killed on Monday, 18 September, in a stampede during an unauthorised clothing distribution in the Balukhali Pan Bazar area. Humanitarian aid has increased in the Cox's Bazar area due to the estimated 412,000 Rohingya who have poured into the region since the Myanmar military launched a campaign against the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army within Rakhine state in Myanmar.

Travellers should be aware that security has been increased along the border region with Myanmar with increased patrols and security checkpoints. Those with operations within the aforementioned area are advised to monitor local media sources as well as liaise with security officials for up to date information on restricted areas. Personnel are advised to liaise with security forces and local authorities to identify no-go areas due to ongoing military operations in the region. Contingency measures should also be continually reviewed and updated accordingly so as to remain commensurate with current threat levels.
