09/18/2017 (United States) - Media sources report that at least 80 people were arrested on Sunday, 17 September, during the third consecutive night of protests in St. Louis. Protests erupted in the city after a police officer, Jason Stockley, who was accused of murder after fatally shooting an unarmed black civilian was acquitted. Sunday's protests began in the late afternoon in front of the police department building and then moved into a march throughout the city. Local media sources indicate that several shops have been vandalised in the downtown area of St Louis and police have detained several people for carrying firearms and weapons.

Travellers in St Louis should be aware that further protests are likely in the immediate term. Those within the city should remain clear of all large demonstrations and political gatherings in order to minimise the risk of exposure to potential unruly crowd behavior, opportunistic crime, and police crowd dispersal operations.
