09/18/2017 (Philippines) - Media sources report that security has been increased in Manila on Monday, 18 September, for the start of the 11th ASEAN ministerial meeting on transnational crime. The meetings are being held over the next four days across various locations in central Manila. The member-countries will be discussing transnational crimes, terrorism and conflict.

Those in Manila should be aware of the potential for localised disruption in the city around the conference due to increased security measures. Due to the elevated threat from militant activity, those in the city should exercise a heightened level of vigilance and immediately report any suspicious items or activity to security forces. Travellers should monitor local media sources for further updates on security operations or incidents and associated disruption in their particular area of operations.
