09/18/2017 (United Kingdom) - According to international sources on Sunday, 17 September, Hurricane Maria is expected to cross the islands of Saint Kitts and Nevis bringing wind gusts of up to 180 kmh (110 mph) on Tuesday evening as the third hurricane in the last two weeks batters the Caribbean following the same trajectory of Irma and Jose. Meteorological agencies have issued hurricane warnings for the Commonwealth realm as well as for other Leeward Islands including the Virgin Islands and Anguilla. Maria is likely to worsen the already difficult situation in the region given the damage being sustained by these islands following consecutive hurricanes

Those within affected areas are advised to closely monitor weather-related developments through local media and remain alert to any emergency directives issued by authorities, including evacuations. Clients are further advised to ensure they have access to a secure location in which to shelter with stockpiles of food and clean water.
