09/17/2017 (Turkey) - According to local media outlets on Sunday, 17 September, at least three suspected members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militant group have been killed in an airstrike in Cukurca district, Hakkari province, near the country's border with Iraq. The militants were reportedly carrying out rocket attacks against military facilities in the area to the south of Guven Mountain when they were detected by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

South-eastern Turkey remains a focal point of conflict between government forces and PKK-led insurgents. As such, travel in the region should be subject to a localised risk assessment and undertaken with comprehensive security measures in place. Those with travel plans in the region are advised to liaise with authorities to identify areas with active security operations and ascertain safest travel routes.
