Grenade Blast Injures Four in Mantripukhri, Imphal East District

09/17/2017 (India) - According to local media outlets on Sunday, 17 September, at least four people were injured after a grenade was thrown at an office building of the Hindustan Construction Company in Mantripukhri, Imphal East district of Manipur state. It is not clear at this time who was responsible for the attack. The building is located in the vicinity of the Heingang police station, which authorities believe was the intended target. Security operations are underway to track down those responsible.
Those in the Manipur state are advised to minimise non-essential travel in the Mantripukhri area in the immediate term due to the ongoing security operations. Travellers should exercise a high level of caution due to the threat from militant activity and are advised to liaise with local authorities and security forces to ensure security measures remain commensurate to the prevailing local threat environment.
