Multiple Arrests made in Kuala Lumpur in Connection with Religious School Fire

09/17/2017 (Malaysia) - According to local media sources on Sunday, 17 September, at least seven people have been arrested in connection with a fire at a religious school in Kuala Lumpur. At least 24 people were killed in the blaze that occurred on Thursday at the Tahfiz Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah School on Jalan Keramat Hujung Street in the Selangor area of the city. Police are currently treating the incident as arson. It is suspected that the fire was caused by two gas tanks which were removed from the kitchens and placed near the sleeping quarters.

Clients in Kuala Lumpur are advised to avoid the affected area while police operations are still ongoing and notify the authorities of any suspicious items or behaviour. Expect a heightened police presence throughout the aforementioned area and monitor local media for further updates.
