Reports of Fatalities following Double Suicide Bombing in Kossa, Far North Region

09/17/2017 (Cameroon) - According to emerging social media reports on Sunday, 17 September, at least five people have been killed a double suicide bombing attack in Kossa, Far North region. No group has group has claimed responsibility for the attack at this time, however the Boko Haram has frequently used young female suicide bombers in its attacks in Cameroon's Far North region, primarily in areas close to the border with Nigeria.

In light of the enduring threat from militant activity in the Far North, essential travel to the region should be subjected to strict security risk management and mitigation protocols, including those that cover journey, accommodation and workplace safety. Prior to deployment, clients are advised to carry out a thorough localised risk assessment to identify any potential threats to operations and staff safety.
