Mall Evacuated following Fatal Shooting in Cancun

09/17/2017 (Mexico) - According to emerging local media reports on Sunday, 17 September, the Gran Plaza mall in Cancun has been evacuated following a fatal shooting. Reports indicate that at least two people were killed. There is a large police presence in the vicinity of the mall and surrounding area. No arrests have been made, and the identity and motive of the gunman is not yet known.

Clients in Cancun are advised to remain well clear of the Gran Plaza mall, and closely monitor local media sources for further developments. Travellers in the vicinity of the mall should remain extremely vigilant, heed all directives issued by authorities, and report any suspicious persons or activity immediately. In an active shooter situation, travellers should vacate the affected area if safe to do so, or remain hidden behind solid cover.
