09/16/2017 (Uganda) - According to local media outlets on Saturday, 16 September, police have arrested four people in connection with an attack against a police station in the Kabalagala suburb of Kampala. At least one police officer was injured during the attack, when five blade-wielding assailants attacked the building and succeeded in stealing an automatic weapon. Recent years have reportedly seen a rise in such attacks against police facilities with theft of weapons often being the motive.

Those in Uganda are advised to exercise a heightened level of vigilance given the threat from criminal activity and immediately report any suspicious activity to police. Travellers should maintain a low profile, minimising displays of relative wealth, and avoiding movements during night time hours.
