09/16/2017 (Vietnam) - According to local media sources on Saturday, 16 September, at least four people have been killed and eight injured after Typhoon Doksuri hit parts of the country's central coast. The Vietnam Disaster Management Agency (VDMA) reported that over 123,000 homes had been damaged and trees and power lines torn down in over five provinces. Nearly 80,000 people have been evacuated from the area and the government has deployed 200,000 to provide aid to the affected areas. Forecasters have warned of a risk of flooding and landslides as storms continue to sweep through central and northern provinces.

Those in affected areas are advised to monitor local media sources for further weather-related updates and should review contingency measures so as to minimise impact on business continuity. Travellers in the region should anticipate travel disruption in the medium term due to storm damaged transport infrastructure and should contact their travel provider prior to departure to ascertain the status of their journeys. Those intending to conduct overland travel in the coming days are advised to anticipate possible road blockages and closures and should plan alternative routes where possible.
