09/16/2017 (United States) - According to media reports, a large-scale pro-Trump rally is scheduled to be held in Washington (DC) on Saturday, 16 September, commencing at 1200hrs (1600 UTC) on the national Mall. The event, dubbed 'the Mother of all Rallies' (MOAR) is anticipated to garner an attendance numbering in the hundreds of thousands. Organisers of the rally state that their intention is to hold a patriotic, pro-Trump political event, and that it is in no way affiliated with the neo-Confederate and white supremacist movements seen recently in Charlottesville, Virginia. Large counter-demonstrations are expected to occur in the vicinity of the MOAR event; heightened tensions and violent unrest are likely. A large security presence is expected.

Clients in Washington (DC) are advised to remain well clear of all political demonstrations and rallies due to the risk of exposure to incidental violence and police crowd control operations. Travellers should be mindful of heightened tensions and increased security measures, and should remain vigilant in the vicinity of large public gatherings. Due to the scale of the rally, significant travel disruption is anticipated throughout the capital for the duration of the event. Monitor local media reports regarding the rally and counter-protests.
