09/15/2017 (Thailand) - The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) updated its travel advice on Friday, 15 September, to reflect that Tropical Cyclone Doksuri is expected to bring hazardous sea and weather conditions to parts of Thailand between Friday and Monday, 18 September. The Thai Metrological department has issued a warning regarding the incoming cyclone, which is likely to prompt flash flooding across the country, beginning with northern and northeastern regions on Friday, before the centre and south of the country are impacted as the cyclone moves south on Saturday, 16 September.
Those in Thailand are advised to monitor local media sources for further weather-related updates and heed any directives issued by local authorities. Travellers intending to undertake overland or air travel in the affected region in the immediate term are advised to contact their travel provider to ascertain the status of their journeys. Should flooding result from the cyclone, all travel to identified flood zones or flood-prone areas should be avoided unless mission-critical. Due to aggravated sea conditions, travel by sea should similarly not be undertaken unless essential, with transport via small boat avoided.
