09/15/2017 (Afghanistan) - According to reports from local media outlets on Friday, 15 September, at least three personnel have been injured after a suspected suicide vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (SVBIED) targeted a convoy of NATO troops from the international assistance force in Afghanistan in the Amani district of southern Kandahar, close to the large military complex at Kandahar International Airport (KDH). The troops involved are believed to have been of Romanian nationality. Contrasting reports, drawing on pro-militant sources, have claimed up to seven people have been killed, however these reports are not based on official confirmation.

Due to militant activity and ongoing security operations, travel in the aforementioned regions should be limited to operationally-critical deployments. Clients are advised to operate under the strictest possible security risk management measures in coordination with local authorities and a trusted security provider. Security procedures should be regularly reviewed and updated so as to remain commensurate to the evolving local threat environment.
