Anti-Fascist Demonstrations in Athens to Mark Hip Hop Star Murder, 16 September

09/15/2017 (Greece) - According to international sources, anti-fascist, anarchist, and left-leaning groups plan to demonstrate at Syntagma Square at 1800hrs (1500 UTC) on Friday, 15 September. Reports indicate that the demonstrations will march towards the US Embassy and the Golden Dawn far-right political party offices. These protests will mark the fourth anniversary of the killing of a popular local hip hop singer at the hands of far-right militants linked to Golden Dawn.
Those within Athens are advised to avoid the vicinity of protests and demonstrations in order to mitigate against exposure to unruly crowd behaviour, opportunistic crime, and police crowd control measures. Clients undertaking overland travel within the city are advised to review journey plans as a result of heightened security in the aforementioned areas.
