Ballistic Missile fired from Pyongyang into North Pacific

09/15/2017 (North Korea) - According to emerging international media reports on Friday, 15 September, North Korea has reportedly fired a missile from the capital, Pyongyang, amid the country's latest round of aggressive ballistic tests. The missile was fired from Pyongyang, and reportedly flew over Hokkaido, northern Japan before landing in the northern Pacific Ocean. South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff has claimed that the missile travelled approximately 3700km (2,300 miles) at a maximum altitude of 770km (479 miles).
Those in the region are advised to exercise an increased level of situational awareness given a possible escalation of regional tension in the immediate to medium term. Monitor local media sources to remain cognisant of any related developments, such as the scheduling of any public drills which have occurred during previous escalations.
