November 12, 2009. Egyptian Health Minister Issues Swine Flu Alert

Minister of Health Dr. al-Jibli issued an alert on November 12th, warning that swine flu would spread rapidly throughout Egypt between December and February. The virus, which is largely spreading from Cairo to suburban and rural areas, is expected to hit school children hardest. The health ministry advised 12 schools to shut down on November 11th and is reportedly considering closing an additional 31 classrooms in Cairo and other areas of the country.
