Russia and Slovakia tightened their borders with Ukraine on November 3rd due to a suspected outbreak of swine flu in the country. Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko said the flu death toll reached 71 since the outbreak began last week in western Ukraine, although only one fatality was a confirmed case of swine flu, according to World Health Organization officials. Slovakia closed two of its five border crossings with Ukraine, while Russia planned to examine anyone crossing the border from Ukraine and quarantine those exhibiting severe symptoms.
