The World Health Organization (WHO) warned on September 9th that a surge of A/H1N1 flu cases in the Asia-Pacific region is likely during the winter, and that hospitals should be prepared to handle the crisis. Most at risk are Bangladesh, Bhutan, North Korea, India, Indonesia, the Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and East Timor. The WHO claimed to have provided technical and financial support to three major vaccine manufacturers in the region, but warns the vaccines may not be prepared on time.
