The U.S. Embassy in Sarajevo released the following Warden Message on 6 July 2009: "This Warden Message alerts U.S. citizens to the latest information regarding human cases of 2009 - H1N1 Influenza, sometimes referred to as swine flu or novel H1N1. The Republika Srpska's Ministry of Health has confirmed that a resident of Banja Luka tested positive for H1N1 influenza. The patient, recently returned from South America, is currently at home in isolation and her illness is being monitored by infectious disease specialists in Banja Luka. The patient's symptoms are described as mild. This appears to be an isolated case of H1N1 in Bosnia Herzegovina."
