May 29, 2009. Government Warning Issued for Singapore

The U.S. Embassy in Singapore issued the following Warden Message on 28 May 2009: "This is an update to the U.S. Embassy's warden message of May 13 regarding the outbreak of 2009-H1N1 Influenza (sometimes referred to as swine flu)."

"The Government of Singapore confirmed its first case of Influenza A (2009-H1N1) on May 27, 2009. The patient arrived from New York on May 26 and is currently being treated. The Ministry of Health (MOH) is attempting to locate other passengers on the same flight who may have been seated near the affected passenger in order to check on their health status. The MOH’s hotline number is 1800-333 9999."

"A May 16 MOH press release indicates they have a contact tracing system in place. Under the Infectious Diseases Act, Home Quarantine Orders (HQO) will be issued to any person who is a known or suspected close contact of an individual with a probable or confirmed case of Influenza A (2009-H1N1). American citizens are encouraged to monitor MOH announcements and comply with local requirements. Details regarding Singapore's response are located at: http://www.moh.gov.sg/mohcorp/default.aspx."
