On 10 May 2009 Chinese authorities quarantined more than 130 of the 150 passengers on a flight carrying a man who was suspected of being mainland China's first case of the H1N1 (swine flu) virus. The man traveled from Minnesota in the United States, to Beijing, and then caught another flight from Beijing to Chengdu. The man reportedly developed flu-like symptoms on the flight from Beijing to Chengdu but was in stable condition after testing "weakly positive" twice for the H1N1 virus.
